I don't know exactly when my obsession with these little boards started. Maybe it was when I saw my older brother nail skate wheels onto a two-by-four. Or when I saw the movie "Skater Dater" in sixth grade. What I remember distinctly is my 10th Christmas when Santa brought me a very special gift in a long, rectangular box. Inside was a brand new Hobie Super Surfer, a laminated skateboard of oak and walnut. It was love at first sight...and love at first ride!
