Some of my favorite cyber stops:

The website of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators is a good starting point. I tend to go straight to the Events page to see what conferences and retreats are coming my way (oh, the temptation!). There's also a helpful FAQ page written by author-illustrator Robin Koontz, the SCBWI Regional Advisor in Oregon (her fall retreat at Silver Falls State Park is highly recommended).

The Purple Crayon is the cyber-brainchild of Harold Underdown, now Editor of ipicturebooks.com. Harold started this site somewhere back in the Middle Ages, and as you'll see, it has the depth to prove it. Harold tells it like it is; there's zero flowery sentiment here.

Jane Yolen, author of more than 200 books, has lots of great insights for writers of all levels. Be sure to check out her new page of photos.

The Children's Book Council is the New York-based trade group made up of children's publishers. Author and illustrator interviews, publishing news, etc.

Verla Kay's site offers a plethora of info. I tend to go straight to the Transcripts page, which features text from live chats with editors, agents and other insiders.

Check back soon for more! :-)
